Sending, equipping, and connecting more workers throughout Europe

It is often said that the Olympic Games hold the opportunity to “bring the world together”. An event like the Olympics can bring with it critical issues, including a rise in human trafficking––specifically, sex trafficking.

On a Friday night in a London neighbourhood, a group of young men caroused along the High Street. As they walked along, they passed the open doors of a church called St. Leonard’s Shoreditch. Inside, GEM worker Leslie Hall and other Christians prayed by candlelight, asking God to bring in unchurched people.

Jan seemed to enjoy the weekly dinners around Jay and Nancy Matsingers’ table as they led a small gathering through an Alpha Course. Together with the others in the group, the young professional expressed curiosity about the gospel and the Bible’s teachings.

After years of Rob and Amy pouring into people who were coming to local ministries and Bible studies, an older and wiser friend challenged them. “Have you considered, is there going to be a long-term home for these people,” he asked.

Like most 18-year-olds in the small, southern Romanian town, it was time for Dani to go away. Job opportunities were scarce in the region near the Bulgarian border, so young people routinely sought work in larger Romanian cities or other European countries.
