Finding Refuge in Athens: Ahmad’s Story

What if your decision to follow Christ cost you your family, friendships, community—or even your life?

Ahmad, a Syrian refugee, was deeply impacted by the war in his country. The devastating loss of his brother led to his loss of faith in Islam. After fleeing to Athens, he, like many other refugees, felt hopeless. 

An encounter in a park changed the course of his life. Ahmad accepted the invitation from Iman Ram from the Athens Better Project to hear about Jesus. He returned daily to the center and even brought friends with him to learn about Christ as well.

“Nothing could stop my love for Jesus,” Ahmad declared, even after a formerly supportive friend threatened his life for leaving Islam to follow Jesus. Ahmad  looks forward to sharing the message of Jesus and discipling other Syrians to do the same.

“Jesus has opened my eyes and I know my Syrian people. I know my culture. I know how important it is to introduce them to Jesus.” What faith!
